Si vous suivez un peu UNKLE, vous savez que James Lavelle, c’est un homme de la nuit qui aime aller claquer des DJ sets en Russie (et on le comprend). Bon, après, on n’est moins fans de ses DJ sets alors j’avoue que c’est pas la grose excitation quand il annonce préparer deux albums de « mixtape » dont le premier s’intitule « Rōnin I ». Il en a profité pour partager un titre qui se veut un hommage à ce monde de la night !
“The record is meant to be like a night out at a party or club from the beginning of the night to the end, or a new UNKLE:Sounds show. It’s the set I dream of playing out in a festival or club when we finally get to come together and dance again!”
Le premier volume sortira le 26 Mars prochain et le second n’a pas encore été annoncé. Sachez néanmoins que les deux volumes comprendront des titres réinterprétés des albums « The Road ».
“‘Rōnin’ was an idea that started in lockdown back in June 2020 where Steven [Weston, co-producer and long time musical director of the UNKLE:Live show] and I started doing some remixes for a new set we thought we would be playing later in the year. As the lockdown continued and any hope of live shows disappeared, we decided to work on it as a mixtape where we could create an hours worth of new remixes and incorporate brand new tracks in the spirit of a new live show, but give it a proper release due to the circumstances.”
Le second volet sera d’ailleurs le fruit du travail commun avec Miink qui a déjà pas mal collaboré avec Lavelle. Reste à voir si dans les nombreux projets promis se cachent de nouvelles compositions d’UNKLE comme celle du mois de janvier.
